BackerKit Surveys Sent!
about 5 years ago – Sat, Feb 16, 2019 at 09:57:28 PM

All backers should have received surveys at this point, so please take the time to fill them out so I can promptly delivery rewards to you all as soon as KS clears funds!

FYI I was also notified that the "$50 all 12 EC3D Premium Sets" Add-on wasn't available in BackerKit immediately - that was my bad due to some visibility settings, just updated so it should all be ok now. If anybody has any questions, or sees anything else amiss please shoot me a message!

Logistics

BackerKit Surveys

I have been working diligently behind the scenes to get this setup. Everything is just about ready to go, and survey links will go out soon. If you have not used BackerKit before, the way it works is that you follow the survey link and get taken to my customized "storefront". There, your selected pledge will already be included, and it will have imported the dollar amount you pledged. You can keep your pledge the same, or upgrade (to add minis or terrain/scatter if you didn't select all-in). Any money over the pledge you included, intended for add-ons, will be reflected as well and in the storefront you can choose which add-ons you want, and purchase additional if you desire.

The surveys will go out *BEFORE* file delivery, most likely later today or early this weekend. You can still go through, complete the survey, get additional add-ons, etc. I have all digital distribution setup via BackerKit so you MUST complete the survey to get your reward, which will be sent to the email you have setup for your Kickstarter account. Backerkit will be delivering instructions with a download link + your customized password to access.

File Delivery + Timeline

As I said in the last update, file delivery is pending until Kickstarter charges all cards, handles disputes, etc and releases funds to me. They claim this takes ~ 2 weeks - in my last KS it was exactly two weeks, but they can't guarantee a date to me. I'm hoping though it's as early as this weekend, bu possibly early next week. As soon as the funds come through I'll release distribution rules on BackerKit and everybody who completed their surveys will get all the access info sent to them.

File Status

Working on wrapping up the last few miniatures right now from final stretch goal, and also working on finalizing Abyss stretch goal scatter pieces. Some of the abyss stuff will be included at delivery time but not 100%. I have a vacation scheduled next wed for 1 week (yey!) but immediately on my return I'll start work on the "vertical city" stretch goal terrain. Stuff is being delivered via Dropbox so new files will just appear in there when I add them. I'll post periodic updates though of changes.

Facebook Group

If you aren't already there, you should join us over on the FB Group - It's gonna be a great place to share stuff once people start printing files, and there's already tons of good convo going (as well as more model previews)

Model Updates

Some model updates to share! Fires on the terrain side, lots of stuff happening. Please note these are all work in progress shots, but gives you a taste of some of the types of stuff that hasn't been shown yet. Included the pics of the portal and stairway spire shown a few updates ago, all the below items plus more will be included. I'm taking the sharp vertical rocks from the abyssal portal and making various standalone bases for them too so you can make ribcage-like abyssal rock formations too. There will be more standalone cracked earth, rock, and fissures as well

For miniatues, we have a few more finished to show, including the Demon Spider, Orc/Demon Hybrid, Shadow Demon (included winged and not winged), and Ichor demon. Still being worked on is the Demon Queen of Rot and Fungus,  a spider mount + dark elf rider, and a few more dark elf arachnids.

EPIC conclusion and next steps
about 5 years ago – Mon, Feb 04, 2019 at 07:01:51 PM

WOW what a finish, thank you all so much for your support! Wanted to take a minute to address the relative timeline going forward and hit on a few common question I have heard.

So.. what's next?

Kickstarter has a ~2 week period in which they process backer funds, resolve payments, etc before they will release the funds to me. In that period I will be setting up the pledge manager (BackerKit) and getting everything setup for the surveys, add-on management, etc. I will also be doing all the fun logistical stuff like organizing files, writing print instructions where needed, and more organized chaos. Lots of the files are self explanatory but some of the stuff, like the dark elf towers and palace, will have accompanying screenshots of assembly and some print suggestions.

Also in that time I'll be working with commissioned mini artists on pending pieces and building a bunch of terrain myself, including the abyssal stuff.  The *only* items I'm not expecting to be ready for delivery right away is the vertical city files, which will take me a few additional weeks for development, but EVERYTHING ELSE will be delivered right away. I'm quite proud of that fact, and that's something you don't see from most Kickstarters. Many take a full year or more for delivery, including the ones from the big players, so yey for us!

Once the KS funds clear to me (in 2-3 weeks from yesterday) I will have everything ready to pull the trigger and will get the files to backers as fast as I humanly can.

How will I receive my files?

I use Dropbox for delivery - it allows you to browse the file repository and selectively download what you need, or do a bulk download if you wish. The final set of all files (minis + terrain) will be somewhere between 25-35gb. I'll keep the dropbox stuff active for a guaranteed 12 months so you don't have to download it all right away. Dropbox allows me to quickly/easily upload any fixes, additions, updates etc to any of the files and have them available to you all in real-time as well (which is another great reason to now download the full set of models right away, but maybe wait 30-45 days until any discovered kinks are ironed  out... though there should be few of those). One suggestion I offer to folks is to spend ~$10 and buy a 64gm flash drive to archive all the files for if you are concerned about storing them all on your hard drive, but most modern computers should have enough storage space to accommodate. Dropbox also allows you to selectively download certain parts at a time in a zip file, so you won't have to try to download a 25gb file in one go.

I pledged for add-ons, or I wish to add additional add-ons or change my pledge

This will all be possible in the pledge manager. This is my first time setting up BackerKit but many of you have used it before and know what to expect, so it should be pretty straightforward.

Are late pledges gonna be available

Yes - late pledges will be available shortly after initial backers receive their files. It will be a bit more expensive than actual KS pledge levels, but not terribly more.

I want to stay updated on things, communicate with other supporters, see stuff as it's being worked on, etc

I have created a FB group for backers RIGHT HERE. If you are *not* a facebook user, I apologize but I do not have the bandwidth to support communities on multiple channels. If there's serious file issues or anything that needs communicating I will do so via Kickstarter backer messages and, if needed, updates on the project - however day-to-day convo, requests, etc will be fielded in the Facebook group. You can always shoot me a direct message on KS as well.

Anything else?

If you have any further questions please feel free to message me @ EC3D on Facebook, post in the KS backer group, message me directly on Kickstarter, or post a comment on here. Cheers, and happy printing (very soon)!

FINAL 45 MINS! Some additional Abyss work-in-prgress shots..
about 5 years ago – Mon, Feb 04, 2019 at 12:52:17 AM

Almost there folks and still climbing! Wanted to toss out a few more pics just for fun before things wrap up, from the final Abyss stretch goal! The Prince of Demons came out amazing on my Photon (FDM printable also), and you can see a few new Abyss pieces being worked on. I'll post a full "end of campaign" update later tonight or first thing tomorrow but wanted to get these out there before the end!

FINAL HOURS! Stretch Goal Unlocked: The Abyss Unleashed!!
about 5 years ago – Sun, Feb 03, 2019 at 01:15:36 AM

The campaign ends tomorrow morning and I have some final updates about the Abyss Unleashed stretch goal - the final epic goal!

This one started out relatively simple but as things kept rolling in the KS I couldn't help but get more and more cool stuff! Wanted to get an update out earlier but it took longer than I expected to get things together, but I think it's worth it!

As you can imagine, I don't have a lot to visually show for a stretch goal I added a day ago, but I think you'll all be excited about what we have to look forward to!

We are putting together some epic minis for you from a ton of different artists. Feast your eyes upon this magical list of wonder!

  • First I worked with Nick over @ Battle Boss Industries and licensed his epic Prince of Demons model! This beastie is a a huge two-baboon faced monster and is the center piece to some popular DnD campaigns, and is one hell of an awesome model! I re-sliced and keyed to optimize it for both resin and FDM printing, and added a blasted earth/lava base (pics below)
  • The awesome Max Maurel is making us a demon/orc hybrid warrior
  • Evocatus Minis is sculpting the demon queen of rot and fungus, also a central figure in common DnD campaigns.
  • Joshua Black (who has made lots of other minis for the campaign) is making us three awesome models. First is a huge, chained blob demon dripping with ichor and chained to the ground.
  • Second from Josh, a huge night walker demon with swirling smoke - perfect to print in a purple or clear translucent resin or PLA
  • Third, is a huge demonic spider
  • Finally, Crossed Lances will be making a shadow demon (with and without wings), also perfect for translucent FDM/resin.

For terrain, Nasos and I are whipping up a bunch of stuff for the very depths of the Skyless Realms, where lava flows shape the terrain and the things that find their way through the veil between the material realm and the Abyss are the things of nightmares. I managed to get one item put together today to have some stuff to show off - the epic huge portal that lead to the abyss itself! Designed to print the portal itself with translucent PLA.  Expect to see all kinds of cool stuff ranging from lava geysers and flows, all kinds of jagged rock formations, shrines, etc.

----------------------------------------

Thank you everybody so much for your support in this campaign! I'm proud to say that more than 90% of all the items in this campaign will be delivered to backers immediately when funds clear (in 2 weeks or so) - this isn't one of those campaigns that take 6-12 months for delivery, you'll have all this stuff on your print bed STAT!

Thank you all again so much! Cheers!
